Keyword Stuffing
What is Keyword Stuffing?
Keyword Stuffing is a bad idea. In a nutshell, it takes advantage of a search engine crawler looking for relevancy of keywords on a web page. The general school of thought is that the more times keywords are repeated on a page, the better ranking the page will receive for that keyword. For example, people try to boost their Google ranking with repeating the keyword 'payday loan' unnecessarily to get a high ranking for people looking for 'payday loans'.
Keyword Stuffing in Detail
Keyword stuffing can involve different methods. One method is to make the keyword text invisible by making the text color the same as the background color of the web page. This is called invisible keyword stuffing. You can also hide text in the "hidden" field meta tag which some search engines may scan for.
Keyword Stuffing Consequences
If you get caught stuffing keywords by search engines, you may be penalized or banned from that search engine.
